SPEAKER BACKGROUND.
Nabiha Omar, a Product Manager at Molecor (SEA) Sdn Bhd. She holds an honors' degree in Chemical Engineering (2012) from University Teknologi MARA (UiTM). She began her career with technical sales in plastic industry and Account Manager in respective Oil & Gas company; UZMA Engineering which deals with technical manpower for upstream application. Her roles as a Product Manager in Molecor South East Asia involves both the technical as well as the marketing and commercial aspects of the latest pipe technology, in particular molecular-oriented high pressure pipes (PVC-O pipes).
Her extended exposure and experience
in engineering design and installation enable her to provide a detailed and
absolute engineering solutions to consultants and water authority. She has been
involved in various projects, including private and government projects such as
Pipe Rehabilitation project for various water authorities and Paddy Field Irrigation
projects in Sarawak and Kelantan.
PVC-O
is made by realigning the PVC molecules through a process of orientation. This
greatly enhances the material properties – around twice the strength and ten
times the impact resistance is achieved compared to traditional PVC-U material.
The result is that PVC-O has a larger bore offering greater hydraulic capacity;
the pipe is manufactured with significantly less embodied energy and is more
material efficient compared to other pipe options.
The
orientation process imparts high strength at maximum material efficiency. It is
the most eco-friendly pipe system in the world as it requires less energy to
produce than conventional PVC-U and other pipe materials. It also uses less
energy in service than all other pipe types. Considering their relative low
weight, PVC-O pipes are strong, robust and durable.
PVC-O
pipes are widely use in various application for water network system in
Malaysia, such as internal and external reticulation, supply mains, pumping
main, sewerage and irrigation. Due to its strong mechanical properties, it also
can be installed under roadways without the presence of Reinforced Concrete
slab or sleeves.
