SPEAKER BACKGROUND.
Ir. Kannan Sendrasaran is a M&E Manager at Langat Centralized Sewage Treatment Plant (CSTP). He graduated with B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics from UCSI University Malaysia. He is a registered Professional Engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and a Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) with Energy Commission Malaysia. He has more than 13 years of working experience covering design, contract administration, project management and consultancy in electrical, SCADA and instrumentation services. He has been involved in operation and maintenance of Water Treatment Plant and Sewerage Treatment Plant. He is currently undertaking research and studies on ways to save energy, reduce maximum demand and cost saving in industrial sector by optimizing the process line and utilizing renewable energy sources.
Malaysia
has also committed to a 20 percent renewable energy mix by 2025, in accordance
with the Paris Agreement. In
Malaysia, the primary energy supply is contributed by five main sources, namely
natural gas, coal, crude oil, petroleum and renewable energy which includes
hydropower. The biogas system in a sewerage treatment plant in Malaysia
is a highly beneficial endeavor for reducing peak demand and energy saving
during plant operation. Sludge from process treatment is used to generate
biogas and power.
Engineers has
important role in study the capacity of a sewerage treatment plant and
designing a Biogas System with more applications. The Site Supervisor and
Inspector of Works (IOW) execute their duties correctly and attentively during
the construction at the site. They must understand the design, system products,
installation method or technique, and inspect installation and identify faults
or contractor mistakes. This enables them to advise workers on how to properly complete
the installation correctly, adhere to all safety rules & regulations and
avoid on-site accidents.
