SYNOPSIS.

 On construction sites large and small, supervision and monitoring has a key role to play in preventing accidents. Typical supervisory functions include planning and allocating work, making decisions, monitoring performance and compliance, providing leadership and building teamwork, and ensuring workforce involvement.

Supervision is therefore heavily involved in the running of a typical construction project and in particular in ensuring that health and safety is effectively managed. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has identified supervision as a “Performance Influencing Factor” when attempting to prevent accidents. It has also been a factor in a number of major high profile accidents around the world in the past, such as the Big Dig Tunnel, Boston ceiling collapse,2006 and aluminium structure fell off at 17th ST Bridge Atlanta, 2011.

The lack of proper provision of supervision also regularly features as an important contributory factor in less well-known accidents, including many of those occurring on construction sites. As it is undeniable supervision and monitoring is critical and have to give equal weight and consideration at site.

In order for a site personnel as  Site Supervisor, IOW, Engineers or any other supervision and monitoring parties do their work correctly and carefully, as rule of thumb they have to understand the design, product or application, correct procedure of installation and how to inspect and identify failures. By understanding this, it enable them to advise or instruct certain works at site oh how it has to be done to prevent accident in short and long term.


SPEAKER BACKGROUND.

             Mohd Azwan Bin Mohd Zulkifli, a Business Development Manager at Wuerth Malaysia since 2017. With 18 years in industry, his responsibility is to identify and develop breakthrough technologies that create innovative products, worked with customer expectations in mine, researching organizations and individuals to find new opportunities and attending conferences, meetings and industry event.

He has helping team members to develop their skills as good training personal. Until today his achievement is financial growth development about 25%. Increase customer growth to 30% by established product management & training department and established Construction Training Centre for WUERTH (M) Sdn Bhd.

 Chong Jien Cheng, a Specification Engineer at Wuerth Malaysia with considerable civil engineering experience. He is specialized in providing engineering services and support, as well as providing seminars or trainings to the engineers especially in anchor and rebar design theories, anchor design software and post installation calculation based on Eurocode and British Standard for post installed construction fixings. His engineering experience wraps other engineering specializations as well such as design engineer for pre-stressing application, responsible for post-tensioned flat slab design and he leverages his experiences by involving in inspection on post-tensioned applications such as flat slabs and transfer plates together with consultants and experts.

 His extended exposure and experience in engineering design and inspections enable him to provide a detailed and absolute engineering solutions to consultants and experts on complicated topics. Apart from design and inspection experience, he has actively involved in the production and installation of precast concrete elements such as Segmental Box Girder (SBG), Tunnel Lining Segment (TLS), Hollow Core Slab, precast column and beam, and other customized precast concrete systems.

 In his engineering path, he has been involved in various projects, including private and government projects such as school, hospital and infrastructure projects as well as MRT2 and other mega projects in Malaysia.
